We are excited to announce a writing contest for school-aged children in our community! This initiative aims to encourage creativity, strengthen community bonds, and celebrate the spirit of the holidays.
Contest Themes: Participants are invited to write stories that revolve around the themes of “holiday” and “community.” This could include personal experiences, imaginative tales, or reflections on what community means during the holiday season.
Eligibility: The contest is open to all students in grades 1-12 within our community. 3 prizes will be awarded in each age group (Elementary, Middle and High School).
Word Limit: To encourage concise storytelling, we propose a word limit of 300-500 words. This range allows for enough depth while remaining accessible for young writers.
Submission Guidelines:
Stories must be original and written by the student.
Submissions should include the student's name, age, grade, and contact information.
All entries must be submitted by midnight November 22, 2024
Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged based on:
-Creativity and originality
-Relevance to the themes
-Writing style and clarity
Prizes: To incentivize participation, we will offer monetary prizes for the top three entries:
1st Place: $100
2nd Place: $75
3rd Place: $50
Winners will be announced during the annual Winterfest parade, providing a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their achievements in front of the community.
