It’s January. You are ready to start out a new year, new you, new company, and goal setting is on your mind. Call it goals, targets, forecasts, hopes, dreams or wishes, there are so many things that you need to do, and get done this year as a business owner, how are you going to? This is where Your Chamber steps in!
Now you are going to ask, what can they do to help me? The first thing you need to identify is what you are trying to accomplish this year. When you have that list and it’s prioritized, it will most likely look like this;
• Increase Sales
• Improve Customer Service
• Become More Efficient
• Increase Employee Satisfaction
Your list may not be in that order; however, we are willing to bet that these items are on it. If they are not, you may need other assistance … and we can help there too!
What the Chamber Can Do …
Increase Sales
As we all know, nothing happens until someone sells something. Your Chamber is key in this in so many ways. Remember the key adage; we do business with those we know, like, and trust, and Your Chamber gives you that opportunity on a regular basis. They do this through workshops, mixers, meetings, and events, there is always a networking component. The BACC even offers a “networking group” where their sole purpose is to help you LEARN how to get referrals, and network with other businesses.
How else can they drive sales for you? Offering promotional opportunities directly to your customers in the area. For example, the BACC Facebook page had over 200,000 views in the 4th Quarter of 2019! And it’s safe to say that one out of every 3 posts had a business name in the area associated with it.
The chamber also uses its resources to promote businesses through the local newspaper and magazines for upcoming events. The partnerships they have with other advertisers can help drive business! By taking part in these promotions, you get Full Page Exposure’s for business card size costs!
Improve Customer Service
Your Chamber has just introduced a new mobile app program that is available for ALL of its members. This is a mobile world, and how can you better provide customer service then being at their fingertips and available at any moment? Yes, we all have web pages and Facebook pages, but our society has become so attached to their mobile devices, you need to be there too. Why not do it at no cost?
We can help you get the message out that you are having events and promotions. The Chamber does this via promotion, but also a very easy way as well by offering a “community” calendar! Simply Text Belleville
to 72727
and the BACC Mobile site pops up with the Events Calendar leading the way. Did you know that this site and texting feature had over 1,000 views on the Saturday of the WinterFest? You can use this to promote your events as well!
Become more efficient
Every company looks for ways to improve and be more efficient. This helps your bottom line and of course increases your productivity. Where does the Chamber fit in? Through its numerous offerings of workshops, seminars, and educational opportunities that are most often no charge!
In 2020, the goal is to have a minimum of 20 such opportunities for our members. And please understand, that it’s not just YOU, the business owner, that is a member, it is all of your employees! Send your salespeople to the Speakers Club, or
Referral Group meetings. When we offer a Quickbooks workshop send your accounting team. And when we have large format events on Public Policy, Leadership, or the Economic Outlook – bring your enter Team!
Increasing Employee Satisfaction
There is a very short little story that goes like this;
CEO: “We need to train our employees”
CFO: “What happens if we train them and they leave?”
CEO: “What happens if we don’t and they stay?”
The above workshops, and future webinars, seminars, and educational opportunities show that you are interested in your employee’s well-being. You are investing in them, and they will appreciate it.
In a national survey by Forbes recently, it was very clear that young workers appreciate that the companies they work for give to charity or provide ways for them to give back to the community. Your Chamber is looking to help you find local opportunities and coordinate more large-scale volunteering efforts. In the 4th Quarter of 2019, the Chamber combined with the surrounding chambers, kicked off a
Non-Profit Roundtable
to begin laying the foundation for this very effort. We assembled over 35 different Non-Profits to discuss how they can better work together.
Throughout this new Non-Profit Roundtable, we will begin to be able to funnel your wishes for more involvement, to their needs. For example, if there is a large community volunteering effort, that is going to benefit several non-profits, you can offer your employees the opportunity to give back to the community. There are many companies that do this. It is a team building opportunity for your employees, and our local service organizations get the muscle they need to make the impact they hope to!
What else can Your Chamber do for you? The question comes back to you … what else do you want? Our
BACC board
is always happy to hear your thoughts. Come to the monthly board meetings and hear what the plans are, as well as give us your input!
